- 2008 Ultimate Race Update. There are currently two adventure races slated for the 2008 season. As Race Director Marty is currently packing up his belongings and moving out west to Colorado, he will take the traditions of Ultimate races with him and run The Ultimate Steamboat Adventure Race. The race date is unknown at this time. Not to leave the North East completely behind there will be an Ultimate Green Mountain Adventure Race held on its usual Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. More on both of these races will be forth coming.

Off to Jackson Hole for four days. I will check my emails daily while away. I will also send out a pre race informational email to all teams on my return. Expect this on Thursday.

- Well, today is the deadline date for entering the Greens. If you did not get to enter but still want to contact me ASAP and we will see if we can work it out or not. We have one individual who was on a team of two and his teammate had to back out. So we have a racer with no team. Again, contact me ASAP if you think this may interest you and we'll hook you up. Altered the course a little bit so that the rope section is not at the end of the race and hopefully all the teams can enjoy this section.

Hit the paddling section today. Found this cool little section of water I never knew existed a few months back and am happy to incorporate it into the course. Originally this section was going to be longer but that would have involved several portages. I eliminated that. Didn't really felt it added to the course. Another year in the Greens and another look for a race course. We've really hit very diverse terrain over the years here. Certainly not the same ole same ole.

Did some biking today. I found this route a few years ago when scouting out a course. Glad I was able to put in this years course. If teams wore out their brake pads last year they should make sure they have extra for this year. Yeah perhaps a cool downhill or two. Keri will be happy to know, there is no Hike a bike through marshes in this race.

Post race party will be held at the Chinese Star Restaurant in Ticonderoga featuring the All you Can Eat Buffet and the all you can drink Magic Hat Beer for a $1 a beer. WahooOOooOooOOooOOO! Bruce is worried there might be a few folks out there allergic to Chinese food. I am like.... a post race party in an all u can eat
Chinese restaurant, I've never seen this before! But if you are allergic please let me know.

Sat down with 2 of the 3 DEC Rangers whose territory we cross into all seems to be a go. Everyone is on the same page. Still need to fine tune the rope section. (permitting woes). There also seems to be a big fishing derby going on in the area making getting accommodations a little bit harder than originally expected.

the course backwards today to check for possible snafus. Somehow it feels easier this way.

up the course a bit for timing purposes. I took the paddling section. Did it in the dark and there were tons of bats flying around. Pretty wild. Will you be paddling in the dark??? Brucie took on timing part of the bike section. "This was a biking from Hell section", Brucie says as Marty laughs. "But I am not a tough guy, if I can do it they can certainly do it." Marty laughs louder, deeper and more sinister.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the unexpected happened to us. We will need to change the Ultimate Adirondacks Race date to August 18th.

Happy Father's Day! An old Bob Marley Classic......Roots, Rocks & Reggae. Some fantastic technical riding today. Question: If I swallowed 15
mosquitoes while riding did I alter from my Vegan lifestyle? Can't
imagine there is much protein in them. Little bastards ate me alive! The riding was worth it. An
updated, simpler more user friendly gear list will be updated soon..

Yeah, folks could get wet in this race. Which way do you want to travel??

Hitting the trekking section again. This part of the course is really good for both experienced
and novice racers alike. Some great route decisions to be made for those experienced racers to
make while the open course follows some awesome trails and terrain. As J.C. would say "Sexy, very
sexy"

Took a long hike to look for an almost equally long rope section. Not sure if I could work out
the logistics of this one but if I do. It'll certainly be something folks will be talking about
for a while. With this final rope section the course is now complete. Just the fine tuning, a
permit or two and the timing to work out. Really nice, something for everyone.
Stay tuned for
future updates...
